The New Horizons Concert Band will be performing a variety of delightful and challenging pieces in the McFarland High School’s Performing Arts Center.

Our swing band has gigs all over the Madison area throughout the year, and our concert band performs at the McFarland High School Performing Arts Center twice per year.
We’re always welcoming new players! Our members range from total beginners to accomplished instrumentalists.
Beginners are welcome in the New Horizons bands! Come play the notes you can, and as you get better and better, you’ll play more and more!
For anyone who has never played an instrument before, or who are switching instruments, we encourage you to take one-on-one lessons from an instructor. This helps make ensemble playing easier and will help you build your confidence even faster.
There is also an additional New Horizons group in Madison that is oriented toward those totally new to music.
Find an InstructorWe welcome newcomers to take us for a test drive by sitting in with the band on any Wednesday night. We practice at the WYSO Center For Music at 1118 East Washington Avenue in Madison. Swing band begins at 5:15 PM and concert band kicks off at 6:15 PM.
Fees are monthly through Ward-Brodt. The cost is $40 for concert band and $20 for swing band. If you will miss rehearsal for an extended period, let Ward-Brodt know so that you are not charged for that time.
Join the BandEvery fall, we host a three day weekend music-making retreat at the beautiful Björklunden, Lawrence University’s 425 acre wooded retreat on the coast of Lake Michigan.
Let's Go!New Horizons ensembles are for adults of any age and experience level. We have members who started with no prior musical experience, to those who played in school (and that was a long time ago), to those who were professional musicians or directors.
